Policies
Your signed consent prior to your appointment confirms your understanding and agreement to the below policies for all grooming services. It is understood and agreed the terms of this agreement can change at any time, without notice, and will overwrite any and all prior signed contracts or releases.
There is a 15 minute grace period from the scheduled appointment time. For example, if your appointment is at 9am, your grace period is until 9:15am. As a salon, we understand day to day life is subject to interruptions and delays due to unexpected traffic conditions, weather, and emergencies…etc. We require you to contact us if you will be running past the 15 minute grace period. At that time it is up to your groomers discretion if they are able to accomadate your pet. This may result in rescheduling or cancellation. If groomer is able to accommodate you, after 15 minutes a late fee may apply. All appointment's will generally take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours dependent on service.
Do not feed your dog within an hour or so prior to the groom. If they take medication for pain, please give them a little bit of food before the appointment. We will not be held liable for any issues caused by stress including bloat/torsion/gastric dilatation and volvulus caused by feeding prior to the groom.
Please have your dog go potty before arrival to avoid accidents in the salon.
We will not offer dog treats. If you wish to bring your pet treats, please bring them in a disposable bag.
Please do not walk up to salon, knock on studio door, or attempt to grab the pets attention while grooming is in progress. If you need to contact your groomer during the session, please call us at (325) 475-4831. We will not be liable for any accidents and injuries as a result of your interruption.
You must be accessible at the phone number we have on file for you during the grooming appointment. We may need to communicate with you during the grooming process and we will also notify you at the same number when your dog is done. If Paws and Relax Studio determines there is a medical emergency requiring veterinary attention and you are not reachable, you agree that Paws and Relax Studio has the authorization to seek medical treatment from the nearest licensed veterinarian. All veterinary costs and expenses will be the responsibility of the animal’s owner.
We have a 20 minute pick up rule. Once groom is completed and owner is messaged, you will have 20 minutes to come and pick up your pet. If you are not available (i.e. on a conference call), you will need arrange for a later pick up time. This must be discussed at drop off. If later pick-up is not arranged and pet is left past 20 minutes from notification that appointment was completed, you will be charged a Wait Fee of $30.
We may take photos or videos of your dog during the appointment. The photos, videos and the name of your dog may be used for our website and marketing purposes. If you do not consent to this, please let us know.
We reserve the right to change prices at any time with written notice.
There is a late payment fee of $50 for any outstanding payment 24 hours after the appointment. No further services will be provided to the client until payment has been made.
All dogs must be current on their rabies vaccination and provide documentation of such. Cats are preferred to have a rabies vaccination but is not required. All puppies must be at least 12 weeks old and current on their puppy series vaccines.
A confirmation message of your appointment will be done 7, 4 and 2 days prior to your appointment asking you to confirm or cancel your appointment. If you do not respond, we will assume, and you hereby agree your appointment is confirmed.
Because we book on an appointment basis and cancellations can leave an empty block in the schedule that could have otherwise been used by another customer. We ask that any rescheduling or cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance or a fee of $50 may apply. The fee is required to be paid before another appointment may be scheduled.
If you do not show up to your appointment within 15 minutes of the appointment time with no communication, this is considered a “no call, no show” and HALF THE GROOMING FEE will apply and is required to be paid before another appointment may be scheduled. This fee also applies when:
If a multiple dog household is scheduled and you decide you do not want one of the dogs groomed once we have already arrived.
If we can not reach you at appointment time, we will wait no more than 15 minutes and make two attempts to contact you.
If we are unable to groom your dog because it is extremely aggressive, unhealthy/emaciated, suffering from anything contagious, infested with any type of pest or parasite, severely anxious or panicking, and attempting to groom your dog would jeopardize its health and safety.
If you did not provide proof of vaccination records.
We may need to reschedule your appointment due to emergencies, salon maintenance, equipment failure, groomer calling out sick, etc. Every effort will be made to contact clients in advance to reschedule.
We recommend your dog to be on flea and tick prevention. We will not groom a dog with severe flea and tick infestations. Please reschedule until the severe infestation is cleared (note we have a 24 hour reschedule policy). If a flea or tick is found on your pet, we will either return the pet if the infestation is severe (half of the grooming fee applies), or administer a flea and tick shampoo (additional charge starting at $10) to eradicate the fleas in order to maintain salon sanitation.
Flea and tick shampoo DOES NOT prevent fleas from jumping back onto the pet. Any such shampoo treatments are also not guaranteed to be one hundred (100%) effective as the shampoo is NOT a preventative method. We will also not be held responsible for your dog’s reactions from usage of said products.
You warrant your dog has no propensity to injure people, and has not caused injuries to groomers in the past. We will do our best to make your dog feel comfortable through the grooming process, but we understand often dogs feel anxious and scared despite our best efforts. In the event that your dog is too stressed or becomes dangerous to groom, we reserve the right to refuse services, cease our grooming services, or cancel services at any time before, during, or after grooming; with the client charged the half grooming fee. If we are able to continue to groom your pet but their require the following restraints (i.e cone, muzzle, groomer's helper, and/or belly band) there will be a Special Care Fee starting at $20 dependent on the extra time spent with your pup.
We do work on sedated pets but we will not be held responsible or any side affects as we are not medically trained to handle these reactions. If you sedate your pet for its appointment and we require that you inform us and give the specific name and dosage of given medication. If you sedate your pet for its appointment and do not inform us, you understand that we will not be held liable for any repercussions related to the sedation as well.
We practice humanity before vanity and will not de-matt a heavily matted dog. The severity of the matting is at the determination of groomer.
Dogs with light matting: We will perform light dematting with a dematting fee starting at $15. We can also perform some spot shaving at the discretion of the groomer. In some cases, it may not be safe to dematt your dog even if the matting is light. We will perform a shave down in that case.
Dogs with heavy matting: Mats in a pet’s coat grow tight, and can ultimately damage and tear the pet’s skin. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. We will not cause serious or undue stress to your dog by de-matting excessively and will require the pet to be shaved. Shaving means to clip the coat very close to the skin, which gives a “smooth” look. We will notify you prior to shaving your dog. An extra De-matting Fee will be applied starting at $15.
There can be a variety of skin and coat care problems that may occur after the shave down of a pet. These problems may include the following, but are not limited to:
May dramatically change your pet’s appearance, as the hair will be very close to the skin.
In some cases pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes.
Symptoms may include itchiness, skin redness, bruising, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions by itching, biting, licking, and/or hematomas and swelling due to mats.
Risks of nicks, cuts and/or abrasions due to the tightness of hair to the skin, moles, warts or skin folds trapped in the mats.
Moisture trapped near the pet’s skin due to the matting can cause bacteria or skin irritations that exist PRIOR to the grooming process.
Possible loss of hair growth and/or coat re-growth in different color/texture, different directions (i.e. cowlicks).
Hyper pigmentation – a darkening of the skin where the coat has not grown back.
Sunburn (we recommend sunscreen after a shave down).
Loss of guard coat, especially in double-coated breeds.
Hotspots can develop days or even weeks after a shave down. Very commonly, dogs will lick and scratch after a shave down because it feels different.
The client understands that shave downs or custom cuts will be discussed and we will perform the cuts to the best of our understanding and ability, but no other guarantee is made.
We are not liable for any harm caused by the grooming process due to matting. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure and any risk presented. If you do not consent to a shave down and we cannot groom your dog, half the grooming fee applies.
The grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or a pet with health issues. Occasionally grooming can aggravate a current medical condition or expose a hidden one. This can occur during or after grooming. Senior pets and pets with health issues have a greater chance of injury. These pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort in ways that minimize the stress. We will make reasonable efforts to keep your pet safe and limit handling them in a way that may exacerbate any medical conditions. However, we will not be responsible for accidents or injuries to an elderly or health-related pet during their grooming. Should medical treatment be necessary while your pet is in our care, all medical expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the animal’s owner.
There is always a risk of accidents when handling live animals. Although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, grooming equipment is extremely sharp and possible accidents can occur, including (but not limited to): cuts, nicks, scratches, or accidentally cutting into the quick of the nails. In most cases, this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. Your pet’s safety and comfort is our number one priority. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified immediately.
If Paws and Relax Studio determines your pet has sustained an injury requiring veterinary attention, and you are not on-site or reachable, you agree that Paws and Relax Studio has the authorization to seek medical treatment from the nearest licensed veterinarian.
If you suspect any injuries caused by the grooming process, please notify us within 24 hours. If your dog requires medical attention due to the injury, you must notify us and seek vet service within 48 hours after the groom. If the vet determines that the injury was caused solely by the groom, and that the medical treatment was required, please provide us with a vet’s written report.
Your satisfaction is important to us. At the end of your appointment, please examine the groom carefully. If you are unhappy for any reason, and would like something adjusted, we will be happy to make any reasonable adjustments then. We will not be able to make any adjustments post the appointment.
